But first, a side note:
I am somewhat proud of myself for listening to my body. Sometimes that is hard for me to do. Usually, I am the type of person that likes to push myself until I have realized that I pushed too hard. But today, I was more than that. Today, I listened to my body.
I did some speed work today, and it all felt fine. I did a few more sprints than I had planned on, and I was in my cool down jog when it happened. I almost pulled my groin. I was not doing anything special at the time, just a nice, slow jog. But I felt my leg do just a little funny twitch. Instantly, I slowed to a walk. It felt fine, but I did not want to push it….sort of. I still wanted to finish my jog, and my leg was not hurting, but I decided that I wanted to make sure that I could run another day.
I got home and did a little core work. Core work is something that I have been overlooking, so I am trying to incorporate that. I took my shower, and when I got out and went to put on my pants, my leg did the same twitch that it did during the run. I delicately put on my pants and slowly walked through the house. This time it was worse. I could feel that it was tender, but it had not been all the way pulled again, and I knew that today was going to have to be an easy day.
I did a lot of sitting today…as much as I could. I would get up occasionally just to work my leg a little, and it has paid off. I can still tell that I need to take tomorrow off from running, things still are a little tender, but I imagine that I will be able to run on Wed. again! As opposed to finishing my cool down jog today and probably not being able to run for a week!
You will have to find out about the ducks in my next post.
That is Why I Run.
